Annabel Tiffin presented BBC North West Tonight this evening- and there was nothing about Cumbria or indeed North Lancashire. It is now ten days since BBC North West Tonight (and ITV Granada) produced any news about Cumbria at all. How much longer do the good people of South Cumbria have to wait to see a news report on their so- called Local Television news about their own county? How long do the good people of North Lancashire have to wait to hear about what is going on in those parts of the North West northwards of them?
This is not actually acceptable at all: 200,000 people live in South Cumbria and rely on BBC North West Tonight to keep them informed about local and regional news. Whilst they can get Radio Cumbria (which does not provide pictures), it would be much better if folk living in the South Lakes could see- and get the feel- for the news that they expect to hear.
If you live in South Cumbria and northern Lancashire, the Right Honourable Sir Oliver Dowden, CBE who is the Member of Parliament for Hertsmere, and who is also the Secretary of State for Digital Culture Media and Sport would love to hear your views on how BBC Regional News- programming delivers for your area (or does not).
